Labour have increased their lead to 5 points, according to the latest YouGov poll conducted after the main conference speech. Although promising ,given the neck-and-neck poll conducted on the 19th, I think we’ll see the Labour lead decrease rapidly from next week. Labour have been the focus of media attention and their policy proposals have yet to receive sufficient criticism/ scrutiny, so this must be taken into account when looking at post conference polling- especially when the Conservatives have an opportunity to offer a rebuttal and ‘alternative menu’ in their conference next week. Added to that, Miliband is facing massive opposition to his continued leadership of Labour. With this in mind, this poll should should be treated with caution when making inferences.
